Homemade Deodorant And Scalp Treatment Recipes
I have another homemade all natural beauty product to share with you and I am really excited about this one. Smooth a tiny amount of organic coconut oil onto your ends of your hair to add a little shine, or on flyaways if you have dark hair. I`ve tried bentonite clay, coconut oil, shea butter separately and they suck as deodorant; I have not found anything as potent as baking soda. I haven`t had any problems with my homemade deodorant affecting the color of any of my clothes.
I don`t wear deodorant unless I leave the house for the day, I haven`t had any complaints. DIY Mama is a month to celebrate the DIY mamas everywhere, and offer them and their babies small homemade luxuries for bath, body, beauty, and fun mealtimes together. You may want to do a little extra research on switching to a natural, organic deodorant to help give you a better understanding of what to expect. I just put coconut oil on my face and then thought i should do a search to see if that was a big mistake or not. When I got pregnant this time around though, I knew I needed something more than just baking soda.
Now that you know how to make homemade deodorant go and make yourself a batch, and keep your pits stink free without all those extra chemicals. The starch and baking soda help absorb sweat and the shea butter, coconut oil, and vitamin E oil help to moisturize your skin. Coconut oil has some nice antimicrobial properties that help shelf life and curb odor, but if you know your skin doesn`t like it, you could try jojoba oil instead — which mimics human sebum. The problem with bentonite clay is it turns dark gray when wet and all the arm pits of my shirts turned black :-(. That is probably the best solution if you`re hoping to use it in a deodorant stick container. Even if your natural deodorant is made up of all essential oils, alcohol could be lurking in the ingredients.
If I could afford virgin cold-pressed coconut oil I would not need to make my own deodorant; I could buy the natural stuff. I thought about the number of times Londyn nursed a day (too many to count…she was quite the milk drinker) and the deodorant that was applied close to my breasts, and therefore, my nursing babe. You can also spray the insides of your shoes with this to prevent bad smells from building up.
The recipe will be runny in hot weather and hard in cold weather so make sure your container can handle both extremes I cleaned out an empty deodorant container with a clicking mechanism and it worked great for summer but not at all once it was cooler.
Not only that I found you did not have to apply it every day like you would with a conventional deodorant It is effective, it is safe and it is natural. I have been using a version of your deodorant recipe for about 2 weeks now (found it somewhere else). To keep it smelling fresh between shampoos, use dry shampoo or sprinkle your scalp with baking soda. They also didn`t seem to protect against odour as well as the coconut oil — perhaps because they don`t offer the antimicrobial properties that cold-pressed virgin coconut oil does. I once tried to make this recipe with patchouli oil instead and it was a complete disaster. We haven`t discussed deodorant lately, so I`ll have to ask her if she`s found something that works yet.
Pour your mix into the deodorant container until full and make sure the part that is used to push up the deodorant is at the very bottom before you add your mix so that you can use it as normal when you are ready to use. One thing I noticed though was that the consistency of my deodorant wasn`t solid enough to stay on a deodorant stick. If you`re wearing a dark top or a tank top, wait a few minutes before you put your top on, and use the clean side of the wash cloth to pat off any excess baking soda - you don`t want white powder on your pits! Most homemade deodorants out there are so liquidy, you`ve got to use your fingers to apply it. I`ll be honest, I`m kinda not into that.
Not only do sweat glands become more active at puberty, oil glands that affect the hair and face do as well. I made a batch (thank u for the recipe :)!) and put some of it in an old deodorant container, nto the fridge and to harden faster and when I went to take it out had melted\" through or something. The only recipe I found with beeswax had a few too many ingredients and not enough beeswax. To use, let it rest against your skin for a couple seconds to soften the coconut oil, do one slow swipe under each arm and use the palm of your hand to spread it around. You can also pour it into tins, or pour any excess into storage containers, for applying the deodorant by hand. Always used in smaller quantities, it is soothing and cleansing and may be used in homemade bath bombs, mouthwash and even carpet cleaner. Pour the deodorant into a 4-ounce Mason jar The deodorant will solidify as it cools.
